Leslie Hopkins Headshot - Confident Core Fitness

I love being active and am fortunate to teach people of all ages to maintain their bodies. Over years of continuing education courses, personal research and professional certifications specific to pelvic health issues, I have been able to help clients reduce chronic pain, stop incontinence and increase their overall feeling of wellness.

I have worked with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns, including low back pain, neurological conditions, scoliosis, osteoporosis, and neck and shoulder injuries.

I am passionate about teaching people to connect with their bodies and to move without pain. I have done this in several different ways through my career:

Pilates

I was first introduced to Stott Pilates in 2001. Its emphasis on conscious movement and effective breathing techniques trains the mind to be more in tune with the body to prevent strains and injuries.

I love that Pilates focuses on whole body movements. It has allowed me and my clients to increase our potential for movement by increasing strength, flexibility and awareness. And with a repertoire of more than 500 progressive mind-body exercises, no Pilates session is ever the same.

Incontinence and PFilates

Getting older doesn’t mean resigning yourself to poor physical or mental health. I’ve learned that the more knowledgeable and active you are, the better life gets. But there are certain facts that cannot be ignored. One of them became uncomfortably clear to me on a family vacation in 2012: I laughed, I leaked and I freaked! But before I resorted to winged pads, incontinence undergarments, medications or surgery, I did some research.

Yes, two childbirths and menopause had an impact on me,
but I discovered that they didn’t doom me to adult diapers for the rest of my life;
pelvic floor health is not so much an aging issue as a fitness issue.

Enter PFilates, a sophisticated program developed by Urogynecologist and pelvic floor specialist Dr. Bruce Crawford. It’s designed to help women and men regain bladder control and improve sexual function. The effectiveness of PFilates has been published in medical journals; 74% of people who try it report improved bladder function in only 4 weeks. It certainly worked for me! And I’ve been able to help others reduce bladder issues by incorporating PFilates practices into my work with clients.

I provide a safe, comfortable environment to learn how to prevent or recover from pelvic health issues such as incontinence and prolapse.

Fascial Fitness

My quest for lifelong solutions for a resilient body is now leading me into the world of fascial fitness. Fascia is the body’s connective tissue. It’s a head-to-toe, all-encompassing interwoven system of fibrous connective tissue found throughout the body. Your fascia provides a framework that helps support and protect individual muscle groups, organs and the entire body as a unit.

I have focused my research and training on the MELT Method and Yamuna Body Rolling. I am also proud to be a certified trainer for ZEN•GA and the HYPOPRESSIVE technique. I bring this ongoing research and learning to my clients’ programs and watch how their bodies transform, allowing them to move more fluidly and easily.
